The Terrible Twos have Arrived

Well the terrible two's are officially here. I have suspected as much over the past few weeks but now there is no denying it. TWO has always had a mischievous gleam in her eyes. This weekend while we were cleaning she went suspiciously quiet for a period of time. As moms we all know this quiet of getting into trouble so my husband went to investigate.

Our darling daughter was sweetly sitting on the bathroom floor with a roll of toilet paper spread out around her.--Now I thank the sweet Lord that she hasn't found the joys of putting things in the toilet or worse still, flushing but something had to be done to stop this behavior from continuing.--So my husband very sternly scolded her. He didn't yell at her, only firmly told her that what she did was wrong that that she will not do it again. You would think he yelled and disowned her. At first she tried to put it back (I had to bite my lip not to laugh at this attempt) and then she cried, and cried, and howled and turned into a full fledged temper tantrum with her throwing herself on the floor, throwing toys and hitting me when I tried to help her calm down. She was of course shown promptly to her room, but I know that this is only the beginning of this type of behavior.

Thank God, he made two year-olds cute and cuddly too or I don't know how many would survive this stage.

  1. When my daughter hit the terrible twos (at 18 months), I started to understand why some animals eat their young. Good luck!

Swinging by from MBC Under 100 Club. Looking forward to reading more!

  2. My 2 1/2 year old has been in the "Terrible Twos Club" since she was about 18 months, and it's getting worse with the growing vocabulary. Sometimes I have to leave the room just to let out a little laugh from the over dramatic outburst that she puts on about 2-3 times daily.

I love Rae Ann's comment "I started to understand why some animals eat their young." Sometimes my Sweet Baby drives me NUTS. But, she's even got her "I love you, I'm so cute, you cant not love me back" LOOKS!

Have fun with your little one!! Time goes by to FAST.

  3. Oooooooh I'm so sorry! Mine is 3 and the storm is still going strong :) It is SO HARD to keep loving them during the day... THEN...they go to bed and are sweet and cuddly... *sigh* there was a definite purpose behind their design :)

My husband thinks I check on the kids at night because I worry...I check on them because they look so sweet it is like recharging my battery for the next day!

  4. your right on the area that they are just so darn cute. My daughter is turning a year and a half in a few days and she is starting the terrible two's early. She gets into a bad temper tantrum, like your daughter she throws herself on the floor crying and howling like your killing them. She also hits and bits me or her hands in frustration and would sometimes bang her head on the floor. I try to discipline her as much as I can but i dont know if she understand or if she is just manipulating me, specially her grandma who she has wrapped around her fingers completely.
